On Instagram I shared some tips to help you master those effortlessly natural Hailey Bieber inspired makeup looks and the questions came pouring in! So, guess what? This week, I wanted to deliver the answers to the most asked questions I get about these foundations.
Why you need a self setting foundation in your kit.
A self-setting foundation refers to a foundation that is designed to set or dry on its own without requiring the use of a separate setting powder. Often times these foundations that are listed as being waterproof, transfer resistant, sweat proof, crease proof, etc. They are amazing for natural glowy makeup looks because you need very little powder (or none at all) for them to adhere to the skin. Most importantly they leave the skin with a natural finish which clients really love (especially if they are not comfortable with a lot of makeup on their skin). That natural finish I'm referring to is the type of finish that can't always be achieved with highlighter, it's a glow from within 'I take good care of my skin' type finish.
A list of self setting foundations I like to use for long wearing glowy makeup looks:
- Face Atelier: Light to medium buildable coverage.
- Nars Light Reflecting Foundation: Great for medium coverage, needs some powder to set.
- Mac Face & Body: Buildable light coverage that my clients both young and older seem to love.
- Dior Forever Skin Glow: Similar to Nars (longer lasting)and a great option for someone that needs medium to full coverage.
If you don't have anything like this in your kit, definitely consider investing in a few shades especially if Hailey Bieber inspired makeup looks get requested. My clients who request these looks know exactly what they want to see because they follow Hailey's every move, and they can be hard to execute (and last) without the help of a self setting foundation .
